Every Wednesday, I post an AI-generated image with an explanation and story.

I use Midjourney to create images for my blog and other media. Today’s topic is Adding Discussions to Hugo.

The Story

I recently started converting my blog to a static page generator. I was a bit done with the speed of WordPress. Not that it’s necessarily WordPress’s fault, but the plugins I was using made adding articles a chore. It was frustrating.

In the article I wrote about this, I wanted to include an image in black and white, where the discussion was central. But not so much a digital discussion, more a conversation between two people.

The Photo

Used Prompt

This is the prompt I used to create the image.

a black and white pencil drawing of two people sitting opposite each other at a table talking
--ar 3:2 --s 750 --v 6.0 --style raw

Such a prompt yields multiple images. Here is another image from that same set.

Editing

As for editing, I didn’t do much to the image, besides some standard actions:

  • Open Midjourney photo in Photoshop
  • Convert the first layer to a Smart Object
  • Add a Camera Raw Smart Filter
  • Adjust light settings: exposure, whites, blacks, shadows
  • Details: sharpening to 100
  • Sharpening mask around 75 to sharpen the contours

Then it’s just a matter of saving as PNG and using in the article.
