Our own Hendrik Jan: Robomow

The time has finally come. We have our own Hendrik Jan, er Mo, or a Robomow robotic lawnmower. At the time this article is online, he has probably already completed his first round.

Earlier I mentioned that we have a robotic lawn mower wanted to have. Yesterday the time had finally come.

We had collected all the necessary information on the internet. So we already knew it was going to be a Robomow. We had also already decided that we were not going to do the installation ourselves. We wanted to make sure it was going to work. And also that it was installed relatively quickly. We eventually ended up with the men of De Gazonmaaier from Haren. They were indicated by the [Robomow] website ( https://robomow.com/nl-NL/products/ ) as a sales point, service point and installation dealer. We had already selected the type. We used Robomap to determine the size of our garden. This is done based on a satellite photo of our garden.

With Robomow’s tool you can easily determine how large your lawn is or will be. You can then select a model. Our result was 800 m2, which includes an RC308. Ultimately we chose the RC308Pro. This is equipped with an alarm with PIN code and GSM module.

The installation

The Robomow works on the basis of a guide cable. This was applied under the grass by a cutter. This means you don’t have to worry about the cable breaking quickly, for example during hoeing.

After the cable and device were installed, the battery still needed to be charged and leveled.

Of course I couldn’t wait that long. I installed the app on the iPhone, so that we also receive information remotely.

You can also operate the device via the app. This way you can let it drive in circles or mow certain areas of the grass.

For certain activities you can even select to which zone this applies.

And now?

Now Mo can do his job. Because the Robomow can be controlled remotely, it would not surprise me that in the future I will attempt to find out how communication takes place. Once I figure that out, I hope to be able to use it to cut motifs in the grass.
