The big clearance

Today the time had finally come: After two years we finally had a clean-up at my mother’s house. They always say that if you haven’t looked in a moving box in a year, you can throw it away. Well, if you’ve lived in a mobile home for a while, I don’t think you should fall under this rule. That doesn’t mean I can’t clean up.
Tidying up books
When we moved to the mobile home temporarily, we already got rid of a lot. Of course not everything, because you think you will need it again. Just like the book below.
Once, a long time ago, I bought this book. It was a very good book then. Actually it still is, but it is somewhat dated.
I don’t think most people who have a computer now even know what MS-DOS is, let alone have books about it, so neither do I. Well, I still have an original set of MS-DOS 3.30 diskettes and book. Who knows, it might be worth money someday.
This was the case for many of the books we had in storage. Or at least, my books. Most of the books I had saved were on IT topics. Most of these are subject to time. Books that were somewhat relevant two years ago are no longer relevant today. I eventually got rid of the books on “ancient” email systems and other topics.
I think we ended up getting rid of two or three moving boxes of books.
Not ready yet
Unfortunately we are not there yet. Tomorrow we have another day to go with even more moving boxes, cupboards, chairs and so on. I’m guessing that we will drive back and forth between Kornhorn and Grootegast a few more times to finally get the last things to our own house.
And then some stuff still has to go to the attic…
