What is KickStarter
Kickstarter is the largest and, especially in the Netherlands, the most famous crowdfunding platform. Also available in the Netherlands since 2014.
If you have a project, but do not have the financial resources, you can post it on KickStarter. When people see something in your project, they can ‘back’ the project, in other words support or invest.
How successful is KickStarter
Successful projects have come from KickStarter projects in the past. Some of these projects are:
- Pebble Smartwatch
- Oculus Rift VR glasses
- A hoverboard , straight out of Back to the Future
Of course, there have also been various projects that did not make it, or ultimately could not deliver. Ultimately it remains an investment. Before investing in a project, consider whether it seems too good to be true. Usually that’s what it is.
