TV as a piece of furniture

Do you also hate those big obstacles? Or do you have such an ugly black surface hanging on your wall?

Of course I’m talking about a TV. TVs have become an indispensable part of a modern home. News and entertainment comes into your living room from all over the world. You get to know other cultures, or strengthen your own culture, without even taking a step outside the door.

A downside of the TV, besides the fact that it causes quite a bit of wasted time, is that it determines a large part of your furnishings. If you have a flat-screen TV, you can hang it on the wall, so you don’t have to put ugly cabinets underneath. When the TV is on it is no problem, but the room does not become more beautiful when it is off: Instead of a beautiful painting you have a black surface on the wall.

The TV as a mirror or painting

Fortunately, there are alternatives to that large, ugly, black surface: Mirrors and paintings.

The Reflex Mirror TV , for example, is a television, but also a mirror. A duo solution that saves space and, together with a suitable frame, belongs in any interior. When the television is off, you have a mirror on the wall. When the television is on, you can enjoy a crystal clear image (I have not yet tried it myself) in a high resolution without loss of quality. It can also be used as a photo frame with the slideshow function.

You can even use the TV as an aquarium or fireplace by showing the right videos or programs on the TV.

In the video below you can see what a mirror TV looks like in real life.

What if I don’t want to watch the TV at all?

If you really don’t want to see the TV, you can always hide it completely, for example in a piece of furniture. By mounting a TV lift in a cupboard, you can only make the TV visible when you want to use it. For example, take a look at the TVs from Hidden
These TVs disappear neatly into a dresser and only appear when you want to watch a movie. If you link this to your home automation system you could get the following situation:

You feel like watching a movie. You press a button on your remote control. As the curtains close, the lights slowly come on. Your TV slowly rises from the furniture and switches to your new Apple TV. While you select a film, the coffee automatically starts running. Delicious. An evening of relaxing.
