In episode four of NTVN, AJ and Alex discuss their recent experiences with 3D printing, Wi-Fi setups, and the Turing Pi 2 cluster board. AJ had some failed 3D prints and ruined a build plate, but also had some successful prints, just like Alex. Alex printed a shelf support with a honeycomb design and a wall mount for a new device called “Homey.” AJ talked about his plans to upgrade his smart home system with a Loxone and LoxBerry setup and expressed his preference for wired connections over Wi-Fi.

Today VMware announced the long awaited new version of their cloud management product vRealize Automation 7 (vRA7). This new release, previously known under codename Bellatrix, is a major overhaul and includes many new features and enhancements.

On Thursday March 19 the NLVMUG UserCon 2015 took place at the 1931 Conference Center in Den Bosch, The Netherlands. Erik thought it would be cool to do something different with vRealize Orchestrator as s a showcase since he was presenting at the NLVMUG together with Martijn Baecke.

Last Friday VMware released the Orchestrator plugin for Active Directory v1.0. With the plugin it is possible to manage Active Directory objects straight from within Orchestrator.

Today at VMWorld Europe 2009 in Cannes VMware introduced their strategy for the coming years. VMware combines Chargeback, CapacityIQ, Orchestrator, ConfigControl and self service in the vCenter Management Suite. These are the building blocks that create the foundation for the next level in the virtualization game.

PowerShell (aka going coldturkey on cmd.exe)

I finally decided to go cold turkey on my vbscript and cmd.exe
I’m gonna start running the Windows PowerShell as my primary shell. I think I will change all my links to cmd.exe to PowerShell just to remind myself.

PowerShell is positioned as replacement for cmd.exe, vbscript and more. Within PowerShell you can use .NET calls and WMI.
Even tools like the management console for Exchange 2007 rely heavily on the PowerShell.

For all IT folks who despise the graphic interface for managing tasks and prefer to automate everything: Your life is getting better!
